I cannot support the so called fair tax. The consumption tax plan doesn't address the crucial problem, which is size, scope, and spending of the Federal government. The The Consumption tax gets rid of one bureaucracy to create another. If people don't have to pay the tax on food, don't collect the tax. I can't fathom the idea of having a bureaucrat writing a check every month to even more people.
We need tax reform. I'd rather see some variation of the flat tax than what's being offered as a consumption tax.
This isn't meant personally, just an observation. Calling the Consumption tax the "fair tax" is assuming, perhaps misleading, and definitely cheesy.
