Legal MPs downloads
legalsounds.com: www.legalsounds.com/
GoMusic: www.gomusic.ru/
MusicMP3: musicmp3.ru/
All sites have an extensive library. What you can't find on one site you should be able to find on another. These sites work best with Windows XP. You can get a couple to work with ME and 98SE, but an XP PC is next to nothing now a days so do it that way.
The speed is usually adequate to excellent. The quality is good.
These sites require you to establish and account. They accept Min payments of around 20 USD, which wil get you many downloads. I've averaged the costs and using all sites to arrive at the average, it comes to 10 cents per download. Longer songs(10 mins+) and albums are more. Each site is different, but they're basically the same.
This is legal as far as we as end users are concerned. These sites exist and legally operate under Russian law. Now the RIAA doesn't like this at all because Artists aren't getting the same amount of royalties they would if the songs were distributed in the states. You aren't sharing files, nor will files be uploaded from your PC. You aren't violating any law, Russian or US by purchasing and downloading from these sites.
Best of all, the files are yours. They come in MP3 format which means the seller hasn't placed a ton of restrictions of what you can do with files you pay for. A friend of mine found out the hard way about wmas and the limits a company can put in that format.
Sites like this is why I discourage people from signing up to these peer to peer file sharing sites. Number one, you risk your PC by using sites like that, unless you use the pay version. Even then, your PC is still at risk of some sort of infection(s). The Free versions are like asking for your PC to quit working.
